Media, PA (PressExposure) September 08, 2009 -- Prompted by the best selling book, Warrior Girls, Bruce Kelly, owner of Fitness Together-Media, has put together an hands on clinic on Injury Prevention for Team Sports. The clinic is geared towards coaches, parents, and players of youth team sports like soocer, basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, softball/baseball, football as well as individual sports like tennis and squash.
The clinic will consist of explaining the epidemic of injury amongst youth athletes especially females, why we should pay attention to prevention efforts, how to implement such routines into your practices and will also have a hands on. live demonstration of the exercises and routines for proper warmup, power training and strength training. The purpose is to educate coaches, parents and players as to how to prevent youth athletes from becoming part of the staggering statistics of those who have suffered serious athletic injuries at young ages. Though nothing can guarantee you won't get injured there is a lot of evidence that these type of programs go a long way in reducing the liklihood.
The clinic is sponsored by Swarthmore Recreation Association: http://www.swarthmorerecreation.org. The person to contact is Linda McCullough the director of SRA.
