Folsom, CA (PressExposure) October 21, 2010 -- The 8 hour Hazwoper training has been specially designed for those employees who deal with dangerous substances on a daily basis. The general industry site workers who remove hazardous wastes or are exposed to hazardous materials in any way should take up this course for maintaining their own health and safety.
The course is structured in such a way that it meets the requirements as they are laid down by OSHA. All the topics in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 are covered in this Hazwoper training course. This course has been approved for 8 hours of initial training. However, for enrolling in this course, it is mandatory for the employees to undertake either the 24 hour or the 40 hour course.
The main objective of this course is to teach the workers site characterization. This helps them identify the possible hazards that can be present in the workplace. Also, these hazards can be minimized to a great level. The OSHA requirements and regulations are taught to the workers. This course educates workers by making them understand the decontamination procedures, use of Personal Protective Equipments and the potential hazardous situations. The hazardous situations can involve anything from oxidizers, corrosives, solvents and reactive chemicals.
The 8 hour Hazwoper training covers topics like Medical Surveillance, Site characterization, site analysis, site control, emergency procedures, regulation overview, toxicology, safe work practices, chemical awareness, Personal Protective Equipments and hazard recognition. Employees learn the various decontamination methods, the principles of decontamination and the levels of decontamination. Also, they understand what has to be done in case of an emergency and the importance of training and actions for their own safety as well as that of their co-workers.
This course has quizzes between training chapters. Each student has to appear for these module quizzes. A minimum of 70% is required to proceed on to the next module. At the end of the course, a final exam has to be appeared for. This too requires the same minimum score. If, at all, a trainee fails to clear the exam in the first attempt, 2 more attempts will be allowed at no additional cost.
