Folkestone Leas Lift Appeal

Folkestone, United Kingdom (PressExposure) July 10, 2009 -- Several friends have formed a group to take on the lease for the Folkestone Leas Lifts that Shepway District Council handed back to the Radnor Trust. The group spokesperson has made contact with Lord Radnor's Folkestone Manor Office, the Radnor trust's agents in Folkestone, and begun early tentative talks.

The Leas Lifts appeal group's spokesman Richard Reeve, said they had set up a website and forum as well as posting a promotional video to YouTube. "Though we are not seeking donations at this stage we are looking for members who can provide skills the organisation will need in the future.

The skills required cover a wide spectrum, everything from Engineers, Building Maintenance, Promotion, staff, team leaders, lawyers, accountants, carpenters & cabinetmakers, health & safety, security and all the skills it takes to run a water balance lift.

Richard went on to explain that they want to set this up correctly with a management board and managers responsible for departments, planning the departments activities and organising volunteers. We would like to establish the Leas Lifts as a charitable organisation and have many plans to make the lifts self financing and that includes opening longer hours and providing other services including education. It is our long-term aim to bring both lifts back into operation.

The organisation has spoken to a number of local interest groups and has gained the interest of a Shepway District Councillor who is providing guidance and ideas on who the group should be speaking with to make this a reality.
