Newcastle, Australia (PressExposure) August 06, 2014 -- Anybody that runs a business knows that the area that causes the most headaches is Human Resources. It is either put in the too hard basket, or pushed down the order of importance due to more pressing issues. What amplifies those problems is that businesses are more often reactive to situations, running around trying to find solutions to the unfolding workplace dramas. However, simply being proactive frees up time and energy and can save a business hundreds of thousands of dollars!
HR Coach Network Member and Director of Australian HR consultancy On The Level HR, Steve Owen, says the key to running a tight HR ship is simply having a framework in place with an annual plan, reviewed annually. He will be running a free HR webinar, worldwide on 28th August, 2014 at 11.00am (GMT+10), to outline how easy this can be.
"The main trend I find when identifying HR problems with small businesses in particular, is that everything is built on the fly", Steve says. "The business is built on the back of a core skill which initially allows the business to grow. However there comes a tipping point when people need to be properly managed and unfortunately, many owners and managers just don't know what to do when that time comes".
Research in Australia has indicated that disengaged staff leaving a job for greener pastures costs local businesses up to $100 billion a year (Mercer/Fairfax), a frightening figure when you think about much larger economies around the world. Steve says that improvement can come down to communication and engagement of staff.
"An example of something made far more complex and time consuming than it should be is Performance Management" says Steve. "Simplifying that process, looking forward and getting the employee to talk about where they are and where they want to go reduces meeting time and improves engagement" says Steve.
Although this training is based around an Australian National Standard, the methodology is adaptable to audiences everywhere. HR training on line has an increasing demand and On The Level HR is providing it, starting with this free HR webinar.
