According to a recent University of Californian study, the average family of four can slash over 53% off their food cost by preparing more meals at home as opposed to eating out.
With more families battered by the recession and higher food cost, families are turning more to preparing meals at home. Soul food has the reputation of not only filling bellies, but staying with you longer. The website not offers the most popular southern recipes voted each month by site visitors based on page views. Visitors can also watch soul food cooking demonstrations and instructional videos making it easier to prepare the recipes.
The popularity of the site took publisher Roy Primm by surprise. "The eyes jumped out of my head when I looked at my site visitor stats one morning, it almost doubled in one week. So I immediately focused on revamping the site to make it easier for people to not only get more recipes, but to make them easier to prepare by adding videos and extra instructions," said the publisher.
The website even includes a popular section titled how to fix soul food mistakes. Visitors can find dozens of ways to fix cooking boo boos and avoid throwing out or tolerating a cooking calamity.
