GET HAPPY!: JUDY GARLAND'S LIFE STORY IN HER OWN WORDS AND MUSIC Runs every Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 2PM through May 26, 2013. In a brand new cabaret venue in aptly named Peter Mac's Upstairs At Oil Can Harry's located at 11502 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604.
The show has been created and conceived by Peter Mac, fast becoming known as the premiere Judy Garland Tribute Artist. In the words of MGM Legend Mickey Rooney: "This is beyond an imitation, Peter Mac is phenomenal, and I knew her and I loved her (Judy) and this is much more than an imitation, this is an ARTIST. Peter Mac is Phenomenal!"
Mac is renowned for his loving and sympathetic homage to Garland, garnering special raves for his determination to bring to life the style, wit and musical legacy of an artist rather than caricature her familiar frailties as a human being. In fact in December of 2012 he was awarded The Southern California Motion Picture Council Golden Halo Award for his loving and accurate portrayal of Judy Garland. The award was presented to him by Mickey Rooney and Academy Award winner Margaret O'Brien.
