Los Angeles, CA (PressExposure) August 08, 2011 -- Grant Thornton LLP, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd, one of the six global audit, tax, and advisory organizations, admitted Shawn Stewart CPA, CRP, CISA, PMP as a new partner of the firm's Business Advisory Services Practice in the Los Angeles Office, effective August 1, 2011.

Mr. Stewart joined Grant Thornton in 2010 as an executive director. With more than 17 years of experience, Mr. Stewart most recently was a senior manager at The Capital Group Companies & American Funds in Los Angeles, where he established the company's first IT compliance programs. He also formed the company's IT Internal Audit Department, Risk Project Management Office and participated in the formation and organization of the first Enterprise IT Project Management Office. Previously, he spent seven years with Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he provided risk consultation, regulatory compliance, audit, and mergers and acquisitions services to clients in a wide variety of industries.
Mr. Stewart is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Risk Professional (CRP), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), and a Project Management Professional (PMP). He received his M.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah with an emphasis in Information Systems and currently resides in Huntington Beach, California.
Across the firm, Grant Thornton admitted 26 new partners and principals.
