Mumbai, India (PressExposure) June 06, 2009 -- Barclays, title sponsor of the Premier League, has today announced that Manchester United legend Gary Pallister, as well as Bryan Robson, has been added to the official judging panel of the Barclays Fan of India competition.
The nationwide search for the Barclays Fan of India draws to a close on Tuesday 9 June 2009 - just six days left for fans of the Barclays Premier League to submit why they are the most fanatical football supporter in the country.
The contest was launched last month with the objective of finding the most passionate supporter of the Barclays Premier League in India. The contest will judge how far the fans will go to lend their support to their favourite team and to the Barclays Premier League.
Huge numbers of forms have poured in from the football dominated cities of Kolkata, Kerala and Pune. A staggering 50% of the entries have come from Mumbai alone.
To enter the contest, the fans need to log on to http://www.barclaysfanofindia.com and explain in not more than 100 words as to why they are the Barclays Fan of India. Alternatively, they can walk into any of the participating Café Coffee Day outlets around the country and submit their entries.
The best entry will win a trip for two to watch their favourite Barclays Premier League team play 'live' in England during the 2009/10 season. This will include flights, 4-star hotel accommodation, tickets and transfers. Ten runners up will also receive a Barclays Premier League team shirt of their choice.
Bryan Robson, Manchester United's legendary midfielder and ambassador of the Barclays Fan of India contest, said, "Representatives of Manchester United have visited India on numerous occasions and they have always been impressed with the level of interest and enthusiasm that exists for the Barclays Premier League. Now I am just looking forward to seeing the response of the Indian audience to the Barclays Fan of India competition".
The Barclays Premier League (www.barclayspremierleague.com) is broadcast to 611 million homes in 211 countries worldwide, reaching a cumulative global audience of 4.77 billion. The Barclays Group is now in its eighth season of sponsorship with the Barclays Premier League, and the current term runs until May 2010.
