Somerville, NJ (PressExposure) April 02, 2009 -- Administrative Professionals Day, formerly known as Secretaryâs Day, is a business holiday observed on the Wednesday of the last full week of April. Young and Rubicam, one of nationâs first advertising agencies, created National Secretaries week in 1952. It was created in conjuction with the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) known back then by the name of the National Secretaries Association, and Harry Klemfuss of Young and Rubicam. His goal was to encourage women to consider careeers in the secretarial field by promoting the values and importance of the job of secretaries.
With the changing times, Secretaryâs Day was changed to Professional Secretaries Week in 1981. The name was upgraded in 2000 to Administrative Professionals Week to accommodate the ever evolving professional responsibilities that the administrative staff currently manage.
Administrative Professionals Day this year will be celebrated this year on Wednsday, April 22.
