Dongguan, Guangdong China (PressExposure) October 17, 2007 -- Australian acupuncturist Matthew Scott has swapped needles for the Net to spread the word on the power of traditional Chinese exercises.
As an acupuncturist, Matthew became increasingly frustrated. "Traditional Chinese medicine, which includes acupuncture, is a preventative medical system that emphasizes taking care of your body through diet and exercise, so as to stop getting sick in the first place", Matthew explains. "Many Chinese people understand this but Western people tend to wait till they get sick, then seek help", he says. "I became frustrated because often my patients would disregard my advice on how to prevent their problems only to come back the next month when the problem flared up again".
After 10 years in private practice, Matthew decided to shift his focus from treating people after they become sick to teaching them how to take better control of their health.
Matthew's website - Chinese-holistic-health-exercises.com - offers traditional Chinese exercises and self-help techniques that Chinese people have used for over 2000 years to improve and maintain health and wellbeing. The site contains individual exercises and techniques for most body areas, and 5 holistic exercise programs on downloadable video - a general program for overall health and programs for sleep, headache, neck pain and common cold.
In August the site received 14,759 visitors and in September it received 17,473 visitors. This month the site is on track to receive 20,000 visitors.
Matthew attributes the success of his website to several factors: "Firstly, I'm passionate about traditional Chinese exercises - I do them everyday and have done for about 15 years", he says. "I also have a genuine desire to help people improve their health and I offer plenty of what I believe is quality information for people looking to do that".
Matthew currently lives in China with his wife and sons.
