St Barts Summer Music Sessions
From August 5 to 15, 2011, St Barts hosts a roster of international DJ's and musicians on the island, with renowned musician Gilberto Gil invited as the patron of the event. Organized by non-profit association St Barth Rocks and with the support of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, this event was launched at the restaurant La Plage on Saint Jean beach. It has since grown to include other beautiful venues on the island such as the Taino at the Christopher Hotel, Bartolomeo at the Guanahani Hotel, La Banane hotel, and such top restaurants as Bonito, La Gloriette, and Tamarin, as well the main dock at the Port of Gustavia.
This year the roster includes a group of 14 artists, from José Padilla (the star DJ from Cafe del Mar in Ibiza, Spain) to the Ashley Rodriguez Trio (finalists on the 2010 American Idol) by way of Tom Howie, a young 22 year-old guitarist who some have compared to Jeff Buckley, and the Alberto Pra Balanço Trio, a leading group from the music scene in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
