London , United Kingdom (PressExposure) November 27, 2009 -- IRIE! dance theatre has been awarded a grant from the People's Postcode Trust for an Adult Dance Project. This is the first time that IRIE! has received a grant from this organisation.
The grant of £2,830 is in support of a special 10-week dance project which starts in January 2010 for adults. A group of adults will have the opportunity to work with a professional dance tutor to improve their dance skills and choreograph a new piece of work to be showcased at the end of the project and to coincide with another IRIE! project called FLOW (Family Learning Open Weekend).
IRIE!'s Artistic Director, Beverley Glean was especially pleased that the company had received this award:
"We are delighted to receive this grant from the People's Postcode Trust because it enables the company to broaden the work that we do with adults and individuals who are not seeking formal accredited dance training a unique experience to learn dance and performing skills." Beverley Glean
This IRIE! dance project for adults is targeted at non-professional dancers and is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in dance particularly African, Caribbean and Contemporary dance to get involved.
