Pakkred, Thailand (PressExposure) May 24, 2008 -- In order to resolve those limitations, Identify has employed RFID technology to automate the plant maintenance or on-site asset tracking operations. With our solution, we can turn all operation to be paperless, reduce work process and ensure that the on-site staff visits the assigned machine at the right time.
We use hand held pocket PC for this solution and RFID tag is affixed to each equipment. With the unique ID of RFID tag, it can ensure the visit of technician unlike bar code technology where it can be easily duplicated. Additionally, RFID offers the capability of storing greater amount of information and it is possible to perform read and write functions.
The solution that we developed allows a supervisor to select equipment for an assigned inspection route from a job list. After assigning, the job will be uploaded into the hand held device. This device is taken by the technician along the inspection route, and RFID tag scanned to confirm the inspection.
When scanning the RFID tag, the inspection sheet of that equipment will be displayed on the pocket PC for inspection. After the completion, the technician will upload that inspected job into system.
Identify has implemented this solution to one petrochemical plant in Thailand for plant maintenance. We have integrated this system with SAP plant maintenance. Resulting from this pilot project, its efficiency can increase by reducing the time scales. Moreover, this system can improve management information by providing good visibility of the progress of the inspection.
