InSeason Mom Offers Support For First Time Moms Over 35

Columbia, SC (PressExposure) November 06, 2006 -- “I’m a firm believer that there are different seasons in every person’s life,” says Cynthia Wilson James, founder of INSEASON MOM, which provides online support to first time mothers or women considering motherhood after age 35. “The key is never allowing another person’s season to determine where you should be in life.”

Cynthia says her season to get married and give birth to children came later in life.

"I got married for the first time at age 40 to Larry, my best male friend of ten plus years, who I had never formerly dated. We got married on the lovely island of Jamaica. The story of our marriage has all the drama and comedy that makes a great made-for-television movie. Anyway, within four years of marriage I gave birth to two beautiful healthy baby girls."

Cynthia says during the birth of her daughters she made three discoveries:

1) The population of first time moms over 35 is growing in the U.S.

(The latest statistics from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for the year 2004 show that 586,254 women over age 35 gave birth in the United States.)

2) Most health care providers offer little or no positive information or support for older expectant moms.

3) Older expectant moms, especially first time moms, found the information she shared encouraging as well as helpful.

Having made these discoveries, Cynthia who has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and twenty years professional writing combined with radio broadcasting experience wrote and marketed Ease Your Fear of Giving Birth After 35 as a seminar.

She found her first success presenting the seminar at a major Southeastern hospital. The hospital also trained her as a Childbirth Instructor. She then launched the InSeason Mom website in October 2005.

Cynthia says http://www.inseasonmom.org offers informative articles such as Telling Your Family and Friends About Your Over 40 Pregnancy and You Can Have A Healthy Pregnancy After 35 which addresses the concerns of older first time moms.

“Unfortunately, older women are flooded with so much negative information about giving birth that they are fearful of having a child. They view the common misconceptions as truth,” says Cynthia. “My goal is to ease their fear by exposing the myths with facts. I want the first time older mom to have support as she works with her physician to ensure the best health care possible."

Judging by the increase in traffic at http://www.inseasonmom.org, Cynthia believes she is reaching her goal. According to Cynthia, InSeason Mom is attracting visitors from across the world including Hong Kong, France, Egypt and Italy and is growing daily.

“When I first launched the website in October 2005, I had less than 50 visitors per month,” says Cynthia. “A year later the website had grown to nearly 400 visitors per month. Yes, I am pleased to be a source of encouragement for older moms.”
