Inaugural Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology (IOG) Dr. Stya Paul Awards 2012

New Delhi, India (PressExposure) September 26, 2012 -- Apeejay Stya &Svran Group presents the inaugural Indian Obstetrics and Gynaecology (IOG) Dr. Stya Paul Awards ceremony to be held on the evening of 3rd October, 2012 at Apeejay Campus Auditorium, Sheikh Sarai, Phase I, New Delhi.

The Awards has been instituted to recognize outstanding contributory articles published in the 'Indian Obstetrics & Gynaecology - Journal for Basic & Clinical Research'. The Award ceremony would be attended by around 500 eminent Obstetricians & Gynaecologists from various parts of the country. Mrs. Sushma Berlia (daughter of late Dr. Stya Paul) - President, Apeejay Stya &Svran Group, and Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University - would deliver the inaugural address.

A major highlight of the Award function would be an Oration Lecture on Pre-Eclampsia&Eclampsia: Evolution and Current Status by Sir S. Arulkumaran, President Elect - International Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (FIGO), and Professor & Head - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, St George's, University of London.

The Oration Lecture on Pre-Eclampsia&Eclampsiahas been organized to aware and educate the masses, particularly women, on critical nature of the medical condition in pregnancy. Pre-Eclampsia and Eclampsia are hypertensive and common disorders during pregnancy which affect about 10% of all pregnancies. They are responsible for 10-13 % of all maternal deaths in the world including in India and have a significant association with maternal morbidity, stillbirths, neonatal morbidity and mortality.

The Awards have been constituted to commemorate the memory of Dr. Stya Paul - eminent industrialist, educationist, philanthropist and freedom fighter. As Founder Chairman, Apeejay Stya Group & Apeejay Education Society and Founder Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, he provided the foundation and inspiration for the emergence of the Apeejay Stya Group and the Apeejay Education Society as trusted symbols of quality and excellence in the country's industrial and educational landscape.

The announcement and presentation of the IOG Dr. Stya Paul Awards 2012 would be followed by a series of presentations by the Awardees on their research. The ceremony will also feature a short film on 'Reminiscences of Dr. Stya Paul'. In addition, the ceremony will witness launch of IOG website.

The event will culminate in high-tea.
