To begin with, a student needs to enroll with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India â ICAI for appearing in the first level i.e. the Common Proficiency Test also known as CPT after passing Class X exam conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto. Students can however appear for the CPT examination only after they appeared for their Senior Secondary Examination-(10+2).
After a student has cleared the CPT examination he/she needs to join the next level i.e. Professional Competence Examination-PCC. After the student has appeared for and cleared the CA Final examination, certificate of GMCS training need to be obtained from ICAI to enroll for membership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
