Stockholm, Sweden (PressExposure) April 17, 2012 -- Christopher "Norrisman" Campbell the internationally known reggae singer, with previous hits like "Persistence" and "Home & Away", has been spending some time in Sweden between 2011-2012.
There he met up with his long time friend (and nephew of Bounty Killer) Omar "Advance" Williams, who was in the final stages of his own album "Game Over" with the swedish based label and producer team Nordic Steel. Advance brought Norrisman to Nordic Steel studio, originally to record on a still to be released riddim called "Blinded", on which Norrisman recorded the tune "Give Thanks For Your Love". He kept coming to the studio and recorded on anything Nordic Steel gave him, and so they formed the album Modern Roots.
Nordic Steel consists of three members - Henrik "Spitfiyah" Persson, Jens "Jatrix" Landegren and Iman "Russ" Esmaeilpour.
Spitfiyah was brought together with Jatrix and Iman Russ through the renowned swedish artist Million Stylez around the year 2000. At the time Million, Jatrix and Iman just came out of the hiphop group Soundaddicts. While Spitfiyah came out of being a selector together with the now well known Dj Flash out of Stockholm Sweden. Soon after they formed the Nordic Steel producer team, while Million Stylez countinued as artist on his own road.
Nordic Steel has since worked closely with artists like Jah Knight, Rebellious, Richie Riott and many more. Previous work also include big artists like Munga, Turbulence, TOK, Cecile and more.
Modern Roots is an album that contains different musical styles, from roots to dancehall to hip hop. All in a mix that keeps it interesting throughout the listen. You will hear Norrisman with a new sound you haven't heard before. The lyrics are intelligently put together with deep Rastafarian messages. With this project Jamaica and Sweden has teamed up to create something new and different.
Release date is 20th April 2012, The album is distributed through Soundquake in Germany.
