Topeka, KS (PressExposure) September 29, 2009 -- For Immediate Release--The Topeka Art Guild is hosting its second annual Kansans Paint Kansas reception on October 4th, from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Topeka Art Guild Gallery, 5331 SW 22nd Place in the Fairlawn Plaza Shopping Mall. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibit will continue through November.
Local celebrity Ralph Hipp will MC the event and Callie Krallman, a noted Kansas artist will be the featured speaker. In addition to works submitted in various media, an afternoon reception will also showcase local Kansas musicians and food.
"This event is a juried competition for artists across the state and a fund raiser for The Topeka Art Guild," said Cynthia Stotlar, chair of this year's Kansans Paint Kansas event. "The work of artists statewide will be judged in three categories: professional, nonprofessional and students."
In addition to the art competition, the event offers an excellent opportunity for attendees to buy artwork by Kansas artists who have already been discovered--as well as from those who have yet to be discovered--at excellent prices. There will be oils, acrylics, watercolors, photography and dyed or woven fabric pieces for competition as well as for sale.
The Kansans Paint Kansas event promises to be a festive afternoon of amazing art, food, and music. Winners in each of the juried categories will also be announced. Washburnâs Assistant Professor Ye Wang will serve as judge for this competition.
