Portage La Prairie, Canada (PressExposure) November 21, 2009 -- A lot of companies build cabinets. Many build great cabinets. Some build cabinets with the purpose of making a difference in people's lives. One of those companies is Decor Cabinets.
"Building cabinets is not rocket science," says Larry Dyck, President. "A lot of people do a great job, but the purpose of our company is to build cabinets in a way that impacts not only our local community but the world. Cabinets are what we do, but we are built around the concept of building community. Our purpose is to make this world a better place, not just to build cabinets. Cabinet manufacturing is our way of enabling us to reach out."
That's a strong statement to make, especially in the cut-throat world of business. But Decor Cabinets firmly believes in this business philosophy, and its employees make these goals possible. A multi-cultural company with 360 employees hailing from 12 different countries, Decor Cabinets is involved in a lot of community events, on both a local and international level, and supports organizations that help people.
Like most businesses, The Decor Cabinet Company was born from an idea. Established back in 1977 in the small southern town of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, our idea was to create cabinets that customers would enjoy and recommend to others. Most would argue that producing a quality product for a fair price is the path to success. While that may have been good enough for others, it wasn't good enough for us. People were telling us they wanted cabinets with greater versatility and style--and we listened.
That fundamental change fuelled a surge in the growth rate of Decor that continues to this day. The modest 4,000 square feet facility we started in has exploded into a modern plant in Morden, Manitoba.
Presently, Decor is among the top 20 fastest growing companies in Manitoba. We have expanded our facilities several more times to meet customer demand. Production space now stands at a total of 146,000 square feet while recently renovated office space includes a 4,000 square foot state-of-the art showroom.
