Birmingham, United Kingdom (PressExposure) March 20, 2013 -- Packt is pleased to announce the release of Cinder - Begin Creative Coding, a book that takes an easy-to-follow and step-by-step approach to learning creative coding using Cinder. Through implementation of the most used creative coding functions for drawing, animation and interaction, readers will experience exactly how easy and fast it is to perform creative coding on Cinder.
About the Author: Krisjanis Rijnieks is a new media professional with a background in painting and multimedia. For the past two years, he has been involved in many projects that include creative coding with technologies like Flash ActionScript, openFrameworks, Cinder, iOS, Unity 3D, Kinect, Augmented Reality, Quartz Composer, VDMX and projection mapping with MadMapper. Currently, Krisjanis is studying in the New Media MA program at the Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture. He is also doing freelance commercial projects and taking his first entrepreneurial steps by managing his company called Skematic.
Cinder is a community-developed, free and open source library for professional-quality creative coding in C++. It provides a powerful, intuitive toolbox for programming graphics, audio, video, networking, image processing and computational geometry. Cinder is cross-platform, and in general the exact same code works under Mac OS X, Windows and a growing list of other platforms - most recently the iPhone and iPad.
Cinder - Begin Creative Coding takes an easy to follow, tutorial-style approach aiming to lead readers step-by-step through the multi-faceted uses of Cinder. The book begins by guidance on downloading Cinder and setting up the development environment, followed by working through some of the most widely used topics in creative coding like drawing, animation, and interaction, and much more in terms of performance and cross-application-compatibility.
The book deals with relatively simple topics like basic drawing, basic animation, basic 3D, interaction, loading files, playing back video files, applying built in and custom effects. It then progresses into advanced topics like how to use Cinder for a generative projection mapping project by using Syphon technology and how to connect Open Sound Control enabled applications for receiving and sending data and commands.
With Cinder - Begin Creative Coding, readers will be able to take their previous creative coding experience to a higher and more demanding level. The book is now available for purchase in print and popular eBook formats.
