Core: The compressed file format collection that contains all of the initial Joomla information. All components, modules, plugins and templates are extensions of the core functionality.
Open source (OS): Describes the intention and attitude of the community developed software. In other words, anyone can write code for extensions of the program and the program will run it.
Operating System (OS): This is the underlying software program that runs your computer/server. It can be Windows, Linux or Mac.
Template: This defines the layout and style of the website, whether it is a back end template or a front end template. Depending on which template it is, will determine where it will work at; either the back end or the front end. "
