Augusta, Georgia (PressExposure) June 27, 2008 -- The Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) will host the 2nd annual Take Our Troops Fishing event in Columbia County in partnership with the Columbia County CVB and the Community Military and Veterans Affairs Committee. The event, scheduled for October 25-26, 2008, will take place on Clarks Hill Lake in Wildwood Park in Augusta, Georgia.
This fishing tournament was created to honor the men and women serving in the U.S. military, especially those at Fort Gordon. âBeing a part of this special event is a gratifying experience,â said Shannon Tilson, head of The Freedom to Fish and an organizer of the event. âIt is our small way of honoring those proudly serving our country, saying âthank youâ for sacrifices they make. The response from the community and the officials at Fort Gordon has been overwhelming!â
Event organizers hope the tournament will grow larger each year. âWe are optimistic that the community here in Augusta, Georgia will show the same level of enthusiasm and support as they have in the past,â said Thom Tuckey, Executive Director of the CSRA Alliance for Fort Gordon. âOur relationship with this community is vital in showing our soldiers how important they are.â
Take Our Troops Fishing is open to all active military personnel. The community is encouraged to participate as volunteers, boaters or though financial donations. For more information, visit [http://www.thefreedomtofish.com], call 770-634-9941 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
