Lilith Ohannessian Announcing Art Exhibition "Seeing the Spirit"

Ontario, Canada (PressExposure) February 01, 2012 -- The exhibit will include the Sumi-e paintings and graphite pencil drawings of Lilith Ohannessian which are demonstration of artist's interest in interpreting the spirit rather than the a photographic representation of an object.

Lilith Ohannessian is contemporary Canadian artist of Armenian descent. She has a degree in Fine arts (BFA) as well as Bachelor of Science (BSc) from Concordia University, Montreal. Her life is inspired by oriental philosophies such as Taoism and Zen Buddhism. Her art is the reflection of that. Her paintings are in Sumi-e style (based on Oriental calligraphy). Her human figure drawings are done in graphite pencil, or ink with graphite, where the emphasis is on capturing the mood or energy, the essence of the moment.

Lilith's work has been showcased in numerous art shows. Recently, her drawings were selected for exhibition in the Atrium Gallery, one of the City of Ottawa Community Galleries, which will take place in January 11-February 13, 2013. She also offers Oriental Brush Painting classes.

Sumi-e is a form of a oriental painting from Japan. It is a pictorial expression of the spirit that resides in Zen martial arts and meditation. It possesses unique character and beauty attracting western artists to learn.

Lilith's art is Zen in spirit. Her ink paintings are in sumi-e style, which is based on Japanese and Chinese calligraphy. Her graphite pencil drawings are minimalist in nature. Both her paintings and drawings bring out the essence and energy of their subject matter. Her life is inspired by oriental philosophies such as Taoism and Zen Buddhism.
