LingQ Releases Major Update to IOS App Enabling Full-Featured Language Learning On the Go

West Vancouver, Canada (PressExposure) April 15, 2014 -- Online language learning service LingQ announces a major new release of their iOS app today. Today's update includes greatly expanded functionality along with a brand new user interface.

"Our previous app was more of a review focused app. Users were required to perform certain learning activities on the website before being able to review their lessons on the app," said Mark Kaufmann, COO. "With this update, all of this key learning functionality now takes place on the app. This means being able to add new courses and lessons and being able to look up new words and save them for review."

The app mimics recent changes on the website with the focus on studying courses instead of lessons. The course list on the app reflects a user's activities on the site and vice versa. As always, the user's known words are synced and tracked by the web server and the number of New Words are kept up to date and displayed for all courses and lessons. This makes choosing of courses easier and allows users to measure and see their progress.

Another innovation on the iOS app, which doesn't yet exist on the web app, is the new Sentence View. This view allows users to focus on each sentence individually which is particularly helpful for beginner to intermediate learners. The user simply swipes to see the next sentence. As in previous versions of the app, each lesson contains audio with matching text.

The new app has a new interface and many existing features have been upgraded and improved. Playlist functionality for lessons, tracking of listening and reading time for your statistics, flashcards and daily SRS review lists have all been updated.

"I have been using test versions of the new app for a few weeks now and I can tell you that this is a paradigm shift in terms of the way you can learn on LingQ," said Kaufmann. "The ease with which you can make use of spare moments throughout your day wherever you are, to learn a language on your mobile device, just makes the whole learning process that much more efficient."

The new iLingQ app is available in the iTunes App Store.
