Port Vila, Vanuatu (PressExposure) September 06, 2010 -- September 12th 2010 will see a group of 10 senior Apostles, from around the globe, visit the historic site at Santo, where they will again declare a prophetic proclamation over Vanuatu.
Vanuatu, voted the Happiest Country on Earth in 2006 and again in 2010, will be hosting 70 well known senior global church Apostles leaders, for a Global Apostolic Summit on the 14th-16th September.
During the public night meetings, at the Seafront Stage on the 14th, 15th and 16th September, at 6.30 p.m., the local Ni-Vanuatu people will be able to meet the Apostles and hear what they have to say concerning Vanuatu, a nation that is rapidly rising on the global stage, having just successfully hosted the Pacific Islands Forum.
The Apostles strongly believe that Vanuatu will be a leader in a Christian revival that will impact both Australia, New Zealand and other Pacific Island Nations.
This is the first time the group has felt led to hold their annual conference in a Developing Nation. This is a time when they seek inspiration for what God is saying to the nations.
The Apostles represent nations as diverse as the United States, Ghana, Central America, Australia, Central America (Honduras, African American, New Zealand, Australian Aboriginal & Islanders El Salvador and Mexico), India and Russia.
Captain Pedro Fernadex de Quiros, the Portuguese navigator, named the land he was standing on, on the 14th May 1606, as the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit.
Quiros named the land he discovered, La Australia del Espiritu Santo. His plan was to set up a colony, to be called Nova Jerusalem. He had landed on the large island of what was then known as the New Hebrides, (Vanuatu). He believed he had found the southern continent he was searching for, (Australia).
He made an effort to found a new Order of Chivalry, the Knights of the Holy Ghost, designed to protect the new colony. However, due to the animosity of the Ni-Vanuatu people, plus disagreements among his own crew, the Portuguese navigator was forced to abandon his dream.
The island Quiros had landed on, retained the name Espiritu Santo and is the largest island of the 80 tropical island archipelago, Vanuatu, located in the North West corner of the South Pacific.
Hundreds of people met on May 2006, to remember the declaration, made 400 years before. The president of Vanuatu, Kalkot Mataskelekele, spoke of repentance, forgiveness, reconciliation, and renewal.
Both European and Spanish representatives were overjoyed to receive an exchange of gifts to commemorate the occasion, as a sign of reconciliation and cleansing of the land. The ceremony was performed by the Matantas Chief.
A bust of Quiros now marks the spot.
Vanuatu has just commemorated its 30th year of independence, a year nominated in biblical terms as 'Maturity'.
