London Start-Up Skin Care Company Up for UK Beauty Awards

Ealing Green, United Kingdom (PressExposure) February 26, 2009 -- A young London-based cosmetics brand has been shortlisted for the UK Beauty Awards, after rigorous evaluation by beauty editors, journalists, and industry professionals.

Pai Skincare’s Camelia & Rose [http://www.paiskincare.com/category_cleanser_1.htm] cleanser was nominated in the Organic Beauty Award category [http://www.handbag.com/beauty/UK-Beauty-Awards-Skincare-Hair-Makeup-Best-Organic-Beauty-Product/gallery] alongside six other brands.

All products in the category use only “natural” ingredients that were either manufactured or grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides.

In addition, they are free of synthetic chemicals, as certified by the Soil Association, the UK’s Organic Trade Certification Body (equivalent to ECOCERT & the USDA).

The words “natural” and “organic” have recently come under fire in the wake of findings that some brands mislead consumers via “dubious scientific claims” in advertisements.

Published reports have shown that despite the inherent risks, cosmetic companies prefer using chemicals because they are cheap extend the shelf-life of products.

For her part, Pai Skin Care founder Sarah Brown says Pai goes “one step further than the competition,” as their products do not use even the chemical preservatives that the Soil Association allows, such as Phenoxyethanol.

“Our products are the purest on the market,” she added.

Indeed, The Observer has noted that Pai Skincare is an "internationally adored line of luxury skincare products, noted for being organic, handmade and boasting beautiful packaging.”

The nomination and subsequent shortlisting of Pai Skincare’s Camelia & Rose cleanser will be followed by public online voting to culminate in an Awards Presentation show on May 29, Friday at the Fashion Theater of Clothes Show London at ExCel.

Pai Skin Care is a young cosmetic brand that specializes on organic, natural, and chemical-free products that are ideal for sensitive skin.

Founder Sarah Brown, the former International PR Manager for E.&J. Gallo Wines, was inspired to come up with the natural skin care line after years of suffering from a bad skin allergy.

Brown is a Handbag.com female entrepreneur business award winner and was voted Top Ten Entrepreneur in the Courvoisier Future 500 Awards.
