Loop the Lake for Literacy

Registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Loop the Lake for Literacy cycling event to be held Saturday, Feb . 25, around the shores of Lake Okeechobee. Florida Crystals is the Presenting Sponsor of the event with Domino Sugar and Levenger being Gold Sponsors. The cycling event benefits the programs of the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County.
Rides are created for all degrees of riders including:
"Sonnet" Ride 15 miles
"Short Story" Ride 31 miles
"Novel" Ride 45 miles
"Classic Ride 62 miles
"Epic" Ride(Full Loop) 115 miles
Included in the registration is a t-shirt, breakfast as well as lunch. The different types of registration are Individual, Team Captain or Team Member. The team with the most members will be given an award in addition to the team the raises the most funds for literacy. We are offering optional chip timing this year. Registrants will be allowed to chart their times and check their stats against other riders at the finish line.
Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative, Peak Metrics, Park Avenue BBQ & Grille and the Belle Glade Rotary Club are Bronze Sponsors, while Palm Beach County Sports Commission and the First Citizens Bank are Support Sponsors. Rio-Bak, the Belle Glade Lions Club and the Bank of Belle Glade are other sponsors. The events' Honorary Chair is Dolly Hand. The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach helps children, adults and families improve their literacy skills so they may work, go to school and navigate through life. The Loop the Lake for literacy benefits the programs run by the Coaliton. The cyclists contribution help to build awareness to raise money for the programs. Statistics reveal that an estimated one in seven adults in Palm Beach County have literacy issues.
