Lottabull Bulldogs recommends that you ask yourself some questions before you decide to breed. What is your motivation ? Is it because you want to better the breed, or is it for the money ? Is your female healthy ? The Bulldog Club of America is asking breeders to get health clearances on their dogs before breeding, and submitting the results to OFA.
Do you have the time and money to raise a litter ? English Bulldogs are born by c-sections, because they can't have their puppies naturally. Bulldog puppies require round the clock care for the first several weeks of their lifes. Raising a litter of bulldog puppies costs money ! Are you willing to take an English Bulldog puppy back if there new family can no longer care for it ? Bulldog rescue is overflowing, and is funded entirely by donations. Don't add to their problems ! Be responsible for what you bring into this world.
Is breeding your English Bulldog worth risking her life ? Things can and do happen, she could have pregnancy complications, or you could lose her under anesthetic. So before breeding your female ask yourself am I doing this for the right reasons?
