Lyn Beaumont Equine Art at Agora Gallery

New York, NY (PressExposure) April 16, 2011 -- Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature Australian artist, Lyn Beaumont, in Out from Down Under & Beyond: Fine Art from Australia and New Zealand. The exhibition is scheduled to run from May 12, 2011 through June 1, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, May 12, 2011).

About the Artist
Australian artist Lyn Beaumont paints horses with a sensitivity and style that few portraitists possess. Expertly rendered elements of landscape and figure painting appear in most of her pieces, but horses' faces and eyes arrest the viewer. Working with photos and a lifelong love of all things equine, she crafts stunning realist compositions with meticulous attention to anatomical detail and beautifully rendered light. Her oil paintings capture their animal subjects' superb balance of power and poise, force and grace, often picturing them suspended mid-gallop.

Beaumont's light-splashed horses are at once endearing and awe-inspiring, conveying immense natural force but also unmistakable emotion. She often renders surrounding landscapes in a lighter palette, muting the setting to accentuate her figures. The resulting tension injects a touch of magic into her work's studied realism. Horses' coats shine with a sharper light, their tones more vivid and lines more crisp. Frozen in photorealist compositions, their dynamism remains ever present. Lyn Beaumont's paintings convey the noble animal's perfection, the strength yet the softness, which is the essence of the horse.
