Hicksville, New York (PressExposure) May 14, 2013 -- This year's February e-commerce report from Tom Robertshaw shows that Magento is the e-commerce platform with largest market share. Magento has been a leading e-commerce platform since last three consecutive years. The Tom Robertshaw's survey takes the list of the top 1 million sites as provided by Alexa. It then fetches the HTML document for the home page and analyses against a library of over 225 signatures that have been written. A signature is a rule that identifies an individual platform.
The February 2013 eCommerce survey found 34,864 sites in the Alexa Top 1 Million. Out of all the eCommerce sites detected, 26% of the e-commerce sites are built in Magento which is almost triple the number of sites using the second and third place platforms. Moreover, this year's survey also looked at the top 100,000 busiest sites and found that Magento powers 28% of the store sites on that list, which is more than double the number of stores using Magento closest competition.
Mr. Jayneel Patel, the Managing Director of OpenXcell says, "The whole credit goes to Magento Inc and its large family of partners, merchants and community who have all been succeeding together with the help of Magento which is in fact the most robust e-commerce platform."
