New York, New York (PressExposure) December 20, 2011 -- Donna Dazzo, President and Owner of Designed to Appeal, a home staging and interior redesign company serving New York City and the Hamptons, has announced their alliance with Porter Contemporary, an art gallery in the Chelsea section of Manhattan.
Home staging is the act of preparing and showcasing residential properties for sale. Preparing involves painting, cleaning, and repairs, among other things, while showcasing is the process of using furniture, lighting and artwork, all to attract the target buyer.
Dazzo says the purpose of the alliance with the art gallery is mutually beneficial. For a nominal rental fee, Designed to Appeal is provided access to original artwork that can be used when staging both owner-occupied and vacant apartments and homes. In turn, Porter Contemporary gets to broaden the exposure of the artists they are representing with the hope that someone seeing the artwork will want to buy the piece.
Porter Contemporary assists the stager in choosing the right piece of artwork based upon the stager's description of the style of the apartment, the size of the room, and the color scheme.
A minimum of three pieces of art are rented for a minimum of three months. The gallery can also provide delivery and installation services to the stager.
Dazzo said "Typically, reproduction artwork is available through furniture rental companies with whom we have a relationship, however sometimes the breadth and quality of the artwork is not sufficient. We have adopted a new philosophy of staging this year, basically Lifestyle Merchandising, in which we portray a lifestyle to a targeted buyer demographic. Original artwork is often necessary to portray a certain lifestyle, particularly in the higher end properties we stage".
