Hartlepool, United Kingdom (PressExposure) May 08, 2009 -- The number of French properties advertised on portal Property Abroad has increased faster than that of any other country. Trends analyst Erin Scott gave a possible reason for the exponential increase.
"France was among the first destinations that Brits bought second homes en masse, and it had a sustained period of being among the most popular with lifestyle buyers and investors. Therefore it has one of the highest volumes of British second home owners in the world, so now, as the UK economic situation worsens it is an entirely predictable trend that these second homeowners are trying to liquidate these assets," he explained.
A very reasonable theory; it is highly likely that the above scenario has played a major part in causing the massive increase of French properties for sale. But it is likely that frustrated French agents seeking out new ways to generate leads and show their properties to a wider and possibly more captivated audience, is also a factor in the increase.
"Admittedly we have a large selection of properties being advertised by French estate agents, and this has increased, but the majority of the increases we have seen have been in French for sale by owner properties," Erin said.
Property Abroad.com is currently advertising hundreds of properties for sale in France, from 1 bedroom houses in Poitou Charentes for £33,000, to a 3 bedroom farmhouse in the Alps for over £1million. The portal's star property is a 4 bedroom villa in Maurin Lattes for £252,000.
