MEISTER SEELIG & FEIN LLP ADVISES INVIVO THERAPEUTICS IN SUCCESSFUL ALTERNATIVE PUBLIC OFFERING
New York, NY --- Meister Seelig & Fein LLP, a New York based law firm, announced today its role as advisor to InVivo Therapeutics Corp. (now a wholly owned subsidiary of InVivo Therapeutics Holdings Corp; OTCBB: NVIV) in the Company's successful completion of an Alternative Public Offering (APO). Meister Seelig Partners Mitchell Lampert and Kenneth Goodwin represented InVivo, a company focused on the development of groundbreaking technologies for the treatment of spinal cord injuries (SCI).
InVivo was introduced to Meister Seelig through a Board Member of the Christopher Reeves Foundation. Working with Spencer Trask Ventures, a financial advisory firm and FINRA Member broker dealer, Meister Seelig completed the APO for InVivo in November 2010, successfully taking the company public through a reverse merger and raising $13 million in a private placement. APO transactions have proven to be an attractive alternative to initial public offerings (IPOs) for companies seeking to access the capital markets, as they provide cost and timing advantages over traditional IPOs. Messrs. Lampert and Goodwin have over 55 years of combined experience handling APO transactions and introducing APO candidate companies to investors.
Mr. Lampert stated: "Both Ken and I are pleased to have advised InVivo in its successful effort to join the public markets and raise capital through an APO. These efforts have provided the Company with the resources necessary to advance their groundbreaking treatments for SCI, bringing them one step closer to helping thousands of individuals living with paralysis."
InVivo, based in Cambridge, Mass., is developing and intends to commercialize a new standard of care for SCI focused on neural protection and plasticity. The technologies, co-invented by Robert S. Langer, ScD, Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Joseph P. Vacanti, MD who is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital, encompass multiple strategies involving biomaterials, U.S. Food & Drug Administration approved drugs, growth factors, and human neural stem cells. There are currently no successful spinal cord injury treatment options for SCI patients.
