Sydney, Australia (PressExposure) July 23, 2009 -- This week on Sleep With The Experts, special guest Geraldine Gallagher will be speaking about melatonin, serotonin and strategies to alleviate stress.
We know that melatonin regulates our circadian rhythm, and knowledge of it is crucial to maximising sleep â particularly for shift-workers. Serotonin, the potent vasoconstrictor and neurotransmitter is found particularly in the brain and intestinal tissue and blood-platelets. In fact, about 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut.
Gallagher will be talking about the relationship between the autonomic nervous system and the enteric nervous system (gut). Melatonin and seratonin are tied in with the enteric nervous system. They're independent, but they often don't talk to each other.
Our special guest this week, Geraldine Gallagher, is a Sydney kinesiologist, practitioner and instructor of kinesiology programs, both in Australia and overseas. Gallagher has expolored many modalities and now teaches Neuro-training programs, mentors practitioners, and has presented conference papers in Australia, Italy, Belgium, England and Ireland. Gallagher has studied homeopathy, is a qualified Master Practitioner of NLP and was the president of the Kinesiology Association of NSW for 5 years. She has authored two successful programs Creative Nutrition and Essence of Change.
Twenty four years in clinical practise has enabled her to research a unique range of flower and gem essences specifically focused on overcoming common problems related to change (including stress and sleep) and they have a direct link to the ancient Chinese philosophy through the hexagrams of the I Ching.
