Los Angeles, California (PressExposure) November 19, 2008 -- The Employment Law Division of Mesriani Law Group recently negotiated a settlement in the case of a former airline employee, Ms. Smith, on her claims of racial and sexual harassment and discrimination.
Ms. Smith asked to be trained for a lead position within her department. This request was denied, and she was told that she had not served long enough with the company to be eligible for the lead training. Ms. Smith learned this was untrue as other employees with less seniority than her had been given lead training. When Ms. Smith complained to her supervisors about the issue she then became the target of discrimination and harassment.
Frustrated by this, Ms. Smith contacted Mesriani Law Group to protect her rights. Mesriani Law Group's Employment Law attorneys investigated the issue and discovered that her supervisor had admitted to another employee that he would not consider her for the position because she was female. They also confirmed multiple instances of individuals who had been given lead training with even less seniority than Ms. Smith and that all of these employees were males.
With such a clear pattern of discrimination, the Employment Law team fashioned a strong claim against the company and forced them to the mediation table. In the face of Mesriani Law Group's expert attorneys and the claim that had been assembled, the airline was forced to pay a settlement in the amount of $75,000.00.
