Mexico Homes in Playa del Carmen See Eco-Friendly Development

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico (PressExposure) October 14, 2010 -- A growing trend in Mexico homes for American and Canadian buyers is the consideration of sustainable development. During 2010, the Playa del Carmen real estate area has made a series of advances to promote sustainability in terms of better energy resource management and increased respect for existing vegetation and nature in new developments.

These efforts are gaining support from important investment sources. Earlier in 2010, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), regarded as the largest source of financing for development in Latin America and the Caribbean, offered the municipal government of Playa del Carmen (officially called the municipality of Solidaridad) support their efforts for sustainable development. The support was shown specifically for a project for housing development using LED lamps in the city, to save electrical energy.

This project comes in addition to the municipality's own, as well private initiative to consolidate development in the area, to continue developing the climate of security and comfortable lifestyle that prevails in this tourist destination, while maintaining the momentum as one of the fastest growing municipalities in Latin America.

The housing project in question at the time was a development that would be located at km 310 on the Cancun-Playa del Carmen federal highway, and would have all basic services. The main focus of he project is to provide working-class residents the option owning a home in Playa del Carmen, in a pleasant development which cares for important resources.

Projects such as this one benefit the Playa del Carmen home market as well, promoting the sense of stability and opportunity for the local working class community; this in turn generates an atmosphere of safety and respect. Other such programs include a mobile health care unit, which provides basic services at a quality level, and low, subsidized price, and free wireless internet in parks.

Likewise, including sustainable ideas in lower priced developments helps to promote this idea on the larger scale, meaning that eco-friendly practices won't be entirely limited to upscale developments focused on expat buyers. Other practices included in some of these developments include replanting of native vegetation (first removed, then re-planted in lawns and green areas) and higher percentages of parks and green space.

In addition promoting eco-friendly practices on a larger scale, these practices likewise contribute to a better urban atmosphere, increasing safety and cleanliness.
