Playa Del Carmen, Mexico (PressExposure) August 03, 2011 -- As of the end of July 2011, a program to maintain Cancun's beachfront which had been restored in 2009, was about 30 percent advance complete. The maintenance program, like the restoration program before it, is expected to help bring added value to Mexico real estate on Cancun's beachfront.
The Permanent Beach Recovery program is currently focused on leveling 5,700 meters of beachfront in this leading tourism and real estate destination. The maintenance program includes 11 km of beaches from Punta Cancun the hotel Westin Regina, but certain stretches include areas where there are "drops" in the sand (between 60 centimeters and 1.80 meters) caused by natural erosion from waves.
The current maintenance is part of a beach restoration program which re-widened the beaches of Cancun's Hotel Zone at the end of 2009. The original plan counted for natural wash away, and included features to minimize this and to keep the majority of the sand, even if it had been washed under the water. The plan also included ongoing maintenance to level beaches and recover sand as needed, which is what is being now seen.
While Cancun real estate offers many benefits, the original lure of the area was the beaches, which continue to be one of the main attractive factors. Buyers interested in Cancun usually prefer the condos directly overlooking the beach and the Caribbean Sea. For this reason, the program as whole, including this first step in ongoing maintenance, is seen as real benefit for Cancun real estate, maintaining the feature which perhaps does the most to support and increase property value.
The benefits for tourism will also be good for the real estate market. As a more complete effort to continue drawing more tourists to Cancun, programs such as this one will bring more potential buyers to the market, and more exposure for owners who later wish to resell.
Of the 5.7 km stretch in question, approximately 30 percent of the levelling has been completed.
