West Palm Beach, FL (PressExposure) June 12, 2013 -- FlavaHill Management, led by music producer, Harlem Wood, recently announced that they are producing a new mixtape series that will offer an advantaged to artists looking to gain exposure.
In such a competitive market as the music industry, it's not always easy for talented musicians to showcase their skills to the right audience and in some cases, they may have trouble finding any audience at all. Many young artists lack the funds and/or skills necessary to effectively market themselves. These obstacles can easily discourage an artist who feels their musical ability should be enough to get them discovered. The truth is you are more likely to get discovered if you can gain a following. This is easier said than done for many who aspire to become a music superstar.
Harlem Wood is determined to even the odds with his upcoming mixtape series, Bang Yo Head. His prior experiences in the music industry seem to be the drive behind his motivation to help other independent artist get rare opportunities to impress potential fans and key industry executives. The series will feature music from aspiring rap and r&b artists from around the country. He plans to distribute the release via major mixtape download sites such as Datpiff, Coast2Coast, Live Mixtapes, and dozens of others. The true value in this project is the hundreds of music industry contacts that he intends to alert about each release. The list includes booking agents, promoters, music journalists, a&r's, dj's, club owners and radio station music directors.
Back in 2010, Harlem found success with a similar mixtape project he promoted while operating his online radio station, Harlem Groove Radio. The station's free promotional mixtape, The Shutdown, was downloaded more than 23,000 times. "It took me a while to figure out what I was doing wrong when it came to marketing music," Harlem said, when asked how difficult it was to promote unknown talent. "When I finally got it, it was like a bell went off or something. Things just started clicking and I just kept repeating the steps over and over using different outlets and I was stunned at the results."
The release date for the first mixtape in this series is scheduled for this July. An exact date has not yet been decided as the scouting for the hottest independent rap and r&b music in the country to be featured in the first installment continues.
