Bennington, NE (PressExposure) April 03, 2013 -- MomsOfOmaha.com, the most popular site for moms in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area, today reported a new record for visitors in a month. "We had just over 28,000 unique visitors in March," said site founder and administrator Rhonda Dunaway. "That's up 45% from last year. We had a lot of interest in finding activities for kids in and around Omaha, including favorites such as Easter egg hunts, summer camps, swim lessons, and birthday party places.
Rhonda said she's pleased that so many people enjoy visiting the site but admitted she wasn't always confident it would be as popular as it's turned out to be. "About a year after we launched MomsOfOmaha, the local paper started their own site. They had dozens of people, lots of money, and several ways to promote their site." She jokes, "I had to make due with some ten year old design software and the cheapest computer I could get at Best Buy."
Visitor data show that MomsOfOmaha.com has done much better overall than their newspaper-owned rival. According to audience measurement site Quantcast, the newspaper's site had slightly more unique visitors than MomsOfOmaha last month, but far fewer visits and page views. "We had close to 30% more visits and about 70% more page views than they did," Rhonda said, based on a measurement report from AWStats. "Our visitors keep coming back, so we must be doing something right."
The success of the site has led to many requests for advertising. "We really like to help local small businesses," Rhonda says. "It can be very expensive and time-consuming to attract an audience, but we try to make it easy. I think our site visitors like finding out about cool local businesses that they might not have heard of."
What plans does Rhonda have for the future of MomsOfOmaha.com? "We're going to stay focused on what our visitors want - activities for kids and families, and helpful resources for moms."
