Mothers Day is recognized internationally as a day to honor all mothers and to show them gratitude for the gifts of caring and love they provided in raising and guiding us.
In US the efforts of Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis are greatly recognized for starting the tradition of Mothers Day. It became an official holiday with a presidential proclamation in the United states in 1914.
The earliest Mother's Day was celebrated in the United States by the giving carnations, at a church service, to moms. Living moms received white carnations and red carnations were given to remember those who had passed away. As our country have developed over time mothers day gifts have come to jewelry, candy, candles, and flowers and gift baskets. Mother's Day is now celebrated in 46 countries all across the world.
