Illinois, IL (PressExposure) August 10, 2014 -- The Exchange Club of Naperville announced the donation of $50,000 to the Care Center at Edward Hospital through the Edward Foundation from last year's Ribfest. The Exchange Club contribution provides funding in support of the Care Center of Naperville to purchase equipment, provide doctor and staff training for the region's best facility to evaluate children and adults with special needs who are victims of sexual abuse.
The Exchange Club has provided more than $500,000 to the Care Center since 1991. "This center supports the core mission of the Exchange Club to eliminate child abuse in all of its forms," Exchange Club President Dawn Portner said, "In addition to the 51 other charities that we are funding this year from the proceeds of Ribfest, the Care Center provides unique services to the community!" The Care Center provides specialized care, counseling and comfort while they are examined to provide evidence for local law enforcement.
The Edward Foundation provides funding for a wide range of programs for children such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, The Children's Facial Center, the region's first Pediatric Emergency Department and the CARE Center program. Exchange Club through Naperville Ribfest has raised $14 million dollars in the past 26 years for local agencies to eliminate child abuse and domestic violence.
Ribfest is run by the 140+ members of the Exchange Club in cooperation with its partners including the City of Naperville and the Naperville Park District. More than 4,000 volunteers and hundreds of sponsors support the event, which takes place over the 4th of July weekend.
The Exchange Club of Naperville was chartered in 1987; its 140 members are dedicated to the elimination of child abuse and domestic violence.
