New York City, New York (PressExposure) February 14, 2013 -- Fairfax and Sammons Architects P.C have been awarded the 2013 Arthur Ross Award by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), headquartered in New York City. This annual award recognizes and celebrates lifetime achievement and excellence in the classical tradition of architecture. Past recipients of the award include such notable architects as Robert Stern, Jacquelin Robertson and Quinlan Terry.
The official award ceremony will take place on May 6, 2013 at The University Club, New York, NY where Anne Fairfax and Richard Sammons will accept the award on the behalf of Fairfax & Sammons Architects P.C.
The award was originally established in 1982 by Classical America patron, Arthur Ross, and its president, Henry Hope Reed. From the beginning, the award has recognized the achievements and contributions of architects, painters, sculptors, artisans, landscape designers, educators, publishers, patrons, and others dedicated to preserving and advancing the classical tradition.
Fairfax & Sammons Architects base their work on traditional and classical design concepts, which has been their hallmark since they established their firm in 1992. They have offices in New York and Palm Beach. Their built work is currently represented throughout the US, Hong Kong, Israel, Dominican Republic, England and Barbados. Partners in business as well as in marriage, Anne Fairfax and Richard Sammons are founding partners of the firm. They are both members of the INTBAU College of Traditional Practitioners (ICTP) a peak international professional body for practitioners in traditional architecture, under the auspices of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. They are the recipients of numerous awards and their works has been featured in The New York Times, Country Life, Architectural Digest, Southern Accents, Old House Journal, Period Homes, Traditional building, New York Spaces and New Old House. Their monograph, "American Houses: The Architecture of Fairfax & Sammons" is published by Rizzoli International.
