Flat Rock, NC (PressExposure) February 10, 2011 -- Pubmission has added a new Editor Coaching feature to complement its online submissions hub. Writers can now work with a freelance editor online to get feedback on their manuscripts via this new interactive tool.
The company, based near Asheville, NC, says Editor Coaching is perfect for writers who are not ready to submit their work to publishers. It can also benefit those who are considering self-publishing.
By pairing up with an Editor Coach, writers can revise their manuscripts or simply get extra incentive to finish a first draft. When they select an editor from Pubmission's list of freelance professionals, they can ask for an overall assessment of their work, or receive line editing and proofreading help. The editor then edits and comments on the installment directly online. There's no software to download or install.
Upon completion of each coaching session, the writer has the option of rating the editor's work. This helps other writers decide if they want to select the editor for their coaching as well.
Each editor posts his or her fee and projected turn-around time. In addition to ratings, writers can view an editor's resume, background, and editing preferences.
"I created this tool because I've met with a number of writers who weren't sure of how to find an editor for their books," says Wolf Hoelscher, owner of Pubmission. "I know from personal experience that there are plenty of freelance editors out there looking for work, so we're simply trying to match up both sides with this easy online tool."
Mr. Hoelscher also feels that this feature will greatly benefit publishers and agents receiving submissions through the site. If the submissions they get have already had help from an experienced editor, then their job of reviewing the slush pile will become a bit easier.
The company is seeking more editors with experience reviewing manuscript submissions to their list. Freelance editors who would like to become Pubmission Editor Coaches should send a resume to firstname.lastname@example.org.
