New Online Community Helps Those Suffering The Trauma Of Redundancy

Torquay, United Kingdom (PressExposure) January 26, 2009 -- A brand new online community is giving valuable and timely help and advice to the ever growing number of people who have become victims of the recession - ‘made redundant’.

‘Been Made Redundant’ is the ongoing project of Jonathan Lake, who himself was made redundant early on in the, then credit crunch, back last August.

Having been through the trauma himself - and lets face it, it is a major cause of distress - he noticed that there was very little help given once you had worked your last day! Agreed, there are government agencies out there that can give you the information you need but, you have to know where to look and for some it is a daunting task.

Some call redundancy “being on the scrapheap”, and at the time, it really does feel like it. Those who have suffered the injustice of redundancy, will agree, that for a while you lose your self esteem, your self confidence and your motivation.

Inevitably questions abound like: 1.“Will I get another job in the current economic climate?” 1.“I am not trained to do anything else than what I was doing - what am I going to do?” 1.“How will I provide for my family?” 1.“Where do I go for information, help and advice?”

It seems that many employers give scant help and advice to those being given their cards, leaving them to fend for themselves, wading through a sea of red tape, misinformation and despair.

Jonathan Lake, who started this project, said “I feel sure that, like me, many people felt like an outcast - bordering on leper status (!), after leaving the job they loved. This project is my way of helping bring those unlucky enough to suffer the hardship of redundancy, together in a place where they can not only get the advice and help they need but also feel like they belong to a like minded community”.

The site has a whole range of help and advice on what to do once redundancy strikes, ways to save money and also a section where you can search for jobs through some of the national recruitment agencies. Coupled with forums, discussion, blogs and interesting information, it is hoped that this project will let people know that they are not alone.
