Sundre, Canada (PressExposure) February 19, 2012 -- Canada has a new organization that is putting forth all effort to have the disease Sarcoidosis recognized in Canada. Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease which causes granulomas which are small tumors to group together causing scarring and damage to any organ. It is a debilitating and potentially fatal disease that does not limit itself to age, race or gender. The National Sarcoidosis Organization is non profit and all funds they receive go towards research, resources and awareness.
The National Sarcoidosis Organization is new as of 2012 and has a board of officials that come from many backgrounds. They have made many attempts to have Canada's government recognize the disease as the multi systemic disease that it is, and not limiting itself to the lungs or the liver. Recently they have started a petition that will be taken to a federal parliament member to consider. Canada's need for awareness has been stated as critical as 20-40 of 100,000 people are diagnosed with Sarcoidosis. The National Sarcoidosis Organization has a website up and running with many resources and information already. It has links to on going information and is very current with what is going on. They are thriving to be Canada's main Sarcoidosis support and awareness site, as well be able to provide funds for much needed research and information as it is lacking in Canada's medical field.
The organization will host many events and is supportive of all who wish to help or be involved as it has been said before "strength comes in numbers".
The organization has worked hard already spreading awareness and getting April recognized and proclaimed as Sarcoidosis Awareness Month internationally and will continue its effort in making sure that Sarcoidosis is recognized like cancer, diabetes or lupus. It is equally as devastating and has no known causes or a cure. Let's change that and find those answers.
