Erie, PA (PressExposure) July 30, 2009 -- Gas prices, grocery costs, utility bills: they all seem to be on the rise. But now you can keep one line item in your budgetâyour car insuranceâthe same. The Rate Protection Endorsement, available now through Erie Insurance, lets you lock in your premium. Unless you make changes to the policy, the annual cost remains the same.
âWeâre living in uncertain economic times,â said Melanie Penshorn of Baer Insurance. âFor some people, knowing that there will be no surprises when they get their auto insurance bill in the mail can provide real peace of mind.â
Even if you have a claim, the premium will stay the same as long as you donât make a change to your policy. The Rate Protection Endorsement can be added when the policyholder changes cars, drivers or primary address, or on its anniversary date, and can be removed whenever the policyholder likes.
âAbout half of ERIE auto policyholders donât make changes to their policies for at least three years,â added Ms. Penshorn. âWith this endorsement, you can lock in your rate when it suits you, and keep it steady as long as you like. It really puts you in the driverâs seat with respect to your insurance premium.â
