New York No Stranger To Nudists

Port Vila, Vanuatu (PressExposure) July 27, 2009 -- The oppressive heat of summer can get you down, but New Yorkers and their guests can enjoy stunning views and cool breezes, wearing nothing more than a hand bag. Now sun lovers can take a gentle trip on the sloop 'Ventura' enjoying the sights, as they cruise New York Harbour.

Believe it or not, strolling around nude in New York isn't such a hard thing to do, if you are into letting bare skin show. There are many places where you can walk around stark naked amongst your nudist peers.

However, in spite of nudists' wish to put it all on show, they don't seem to be particularly keen on getting caught by a camera. Perhaps it's because there are very few sun-loving nudists who can claim to be members of 'Body Beautiful'.

It seems though the clock is being turned back, as the younger generation of women choose to cover-up, because of the fear of skin cancer, as well as a statement of rebellion against the cult of the ‘body beautiful’, where no imperfection is allowed. Going topless is no longer seen as an act of feminism, in an time where sex equality, equal pay and trying to balance work and family, has priority.

Unfortunately near nudity does not stop in the restricted regions of New York. The man who 'Knows how to do more with less', has put himself up for and election. Robert Burck, is the tattooed long-haired 'Naked Cowboy', who entertains crowds of tourists in Times Square, wearing only his underpants, heedless of the weather conditions. Burck has launched his bid to run for mayor against billionaire, Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

This comes at a time when 44 people, including some rabbis and three mayors were arrested in an anti-corruption raid in New Jersey.

It seems it is a time when people are still asking for everything to be laid bare.
