Originally starting with the construction of their own cedar strip canoe, the two began making paddles for themselves as well as family members and friends for Christmas, birthday, and wedding gifts.

After deciding to start the paddle business, the company was incorporated in May, 2007. With most sales targeted directly to the consumer, their website, www.holzcanoepaddles.com was recently launched in late June 2007.

Holz Cane Paddles, Inc. designs and creates both functional wooden canoe paddles for use on the water and decorative or ornamental paddles for home, cabin, or lodge decor. All the paddles are hand made, one at a time out of Red Cedar lumber stock in Southern Illinois using laminating techniques.
