Newport, Rhode Island (PressExposure) May 05, 2011 -- Mystic Company buys Newport View TV Show.
A Mystic, Connecticut television production company, MYS-TV Studios LLC, has expanded its tourism television network by acquiring Newport View LLC of Newport, RI. Both companies broadcast tourism information to visitors in hotels through an in-room TV program. The Newport show, called "Newport View" is currently available in 15 hotels in Newport, Middletown and Jamestown including the Marriott, Hotel Viking, the Hyatt and the Wyndham properties.
MYS-TV Studios is owned by Greg Gilmartin. He has produced "Mystic Coast Connection" since 1998 in Southeastern Connecticut. That show highlights what to see and do in the popular vacation region around Mystic. It is currently seen in 4000 hotel rooms. "This is a natural opportunity for our growing company to expand," says Gilmartin.
Immediate plans in Newport call for an expansion of the number of hotel rooms that can see the "Newport View" program. "We plan to be in over 2500 rooms by summer," says Gilmartin. The show repeats continuously 24 hours a day and, according to Gilmartin, delivers millions of impressions annually. "Our mission is to guide Newport visitors to local businesses," he says. "90% of guests turn on the TV when they enter their rooms.
Our program features and our advertisers will be seen when that happens."
The acquisition of Newport View is the culmination of a business relationship that started in September of 2009 between Gilmartin and Newport View's former owner, Dan McDonald. McDonald, a jeweler by trade and the owner of Three Golden Apples on Bellevue Avenue, hired Gilmartin to produce commercials for the Newport show. When McDonald decided to sell the show, Gilmartin was ready to buy.
"Who doesn't love Newport?" Gilmartin says. "I've been sailing, shopping and dining here for 25 years. We are excited to become a part of the community and have already experienced a warm welcome. We look forward to working with the local businesses to promote Newport and the entire region."
Gilmartin says the Newport View camera crew will be in Newport beginning May 6, capturing footage that will be used on the show which is updated monthly. MYS-TV Studios has set a goal to be New England's #1 provider of in-room TV advertising by expanding the tourism television hotel show model into Providence and then Boston by 2013.
