Los Angeles, CA (PressExposure) November 12, 2009 -- A year after California voters overturned the same-sex marriage rights; public opinion is gradually changing. Over the past year, the gay rights movement has seen a significant rise for support against Prop 8 - particularly from celebrities, newspapers and local businesses.
Some have showcased their support by rallies, others have voiced their opinion through media and others help make gay relationships happen. In particular, Nuera Network (www.nueranetwork.com) - California's largest same-sex matchmaking service, is helping in the fight against Prop 8. Dennis Richardson, a representative from the Nuera Network explains, "Prop 8 was definitely a tragedy for the gay community.
However, this has not stopped us from fighting for equal rights." Since Prop 8, Nuera has experienced a significant rise in applicants and interest. Dennis explains, "Many people want to express their support. Our members want to prove that gay relationships matter." Nuera Network hopes this will sway the conventional view of relationships and marriage. He continues, "We understand that people have misconceptions about the gay community. Our goal is to promote a positive image of gay relationships."
New campaigns are underway to propose new initiatives for equal rights. Nuera Network promises to continue their support against Prop 8 by helping gay men and women in California find love.
